Faith is not just about what we believe—it’s about how we live. As you work through these devotionals, my prayer is that you will grow stronger, stand firmer, and live bolder for Christ. No matter what comes, you can remain unshaken because your foundation is in Him. – John O’Malley

1 Corinthians 6:19-20
“What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.”
Learn About It
Paul reminds the Corinthians of a profound truth: their bodies are not their own. As believers, they had been bought with a price—the precious blood of Christ. Because of this, they were called to honor God with their bodies.
The Corinthians lived in a city filled with immorality and pagan practices. Many had previously engaged in sinful lifestyles, and Paul wanted them to understand that, as Christians, their bodies now belonged to God, not the world.
Paul uses the imagery of the temple to describe the believer’s body. In the Old Testament, the temple was a sacred place where God’s presence dwelled. Now, through the Holy Spirit, God dwells within every believer. This truth carries a serious responsibility: we must keep our bodies pure and set apart for Him.
Apply It to Me
If our bodies belong to God, that means we must use them in a way that honors Him. This applies to:
• What we do (our actions, choices, and lifestyle)
• Where we go (the environments we place ourselves in)
• How we treat ourselves (caring for our health and well-being)
• What we allow into our minds and hearts (what we watch, listen to, and dwell on)
• Do I treat my body as a temple of the Holy Spirit, or do I misuse it for selfish desires?
• Am I mindful of how my actions reflect on Christ?
• Do I allow things into my life that pollute my heart and mind, rather than glorifying God?
When we remember that we belong to Christ, it changes how we live. Honoring God with our bodies is not about rules or restrictions, but about living in a way that reflects our identity in Him.
Talk to God About It
Lord, thank You for redeeming me and dwelling within me through Your Holy Spirit. Help me to honor You with my body, my choices, and my lifestyle. Show me any area where I have not been living in a way that glorifies You. Give me strength to walk in holiness and purity each day. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Act on It
Examine your daily habits and lifestyle. Identify one area where you need to be more intentional about honoring God with your body. Take a step this week to make a change that reflects your commitment to holiness.
